Long Island Science Center — 111 Main Street
Town of Riverhead
Description
The nonprofit's phased plan targets a 4,000-square-foot phase one opening this fall, but the board noted no site plan approval, no building permits, and no construction in six years — and a resolution on the April 7 agenda could move the town toward acquiring the property.
Impact summary
The vacant building sits directly beside the town's Town Square construction, and its fate — redevelopment or town acquisition — will shape downtown Riverhead's revitalization for years.
